LWC Drinks, the UK’s largest independent drinks wholesaler has hosted its first in-person Women’s Network meet-up, in honour of International Women’s Day.

On Monday 4th March, men and women from LWC’s internal Women’s Network came together with colleagues from across the industry to celebrate International Women’s Day a few days early with its ‘Networking in the Sky’ event.

Taking place at the incredible sky high Cloud23 at Manchester’s Hilton Hotel, Network members and guests were treated to an action-packed day of networking, inspiring conversations and workshops, and all in a friendly, inclusive and supportive space.

The morning started with an introduction from LWC’s Managing Director, Ebrahim Mukadam, who shared his strong support for the Network, his vision for the future and his hopes for the development of a more inclusive industry. Putting a firm focus on promoting female empowerment and progression within the company, Ebrahim then handed over to the day’s first speaker, bestselling author and award-winning CEO and founder of The Smart Girl Tribe, Scarlett V Clark who was interviewed by LWC Yorkshire’s very own Wine Development Manager Flick Wattam.

After a lengthy fireside-style conversation, the floor was then opened for questions, with a number of thought-provoking discussions coming from both Network members and external guests.

The morning session then closed for lunch and networking over a few glasses of LWC’s Signature gin Agnes Arber Gin and a handpicked selection of the wholesaler’s wines.  Then it was back to business.

The afternoon session came in the form of the charismatic ‘Sneaker Speaker’ who led an interactive session on stress management and coping mechanisms. Attendees were given the opportunity to share their current causes of stress and gain a better understanding of how simple changes can make a huge difference to the management and reduction of stress within the workplace. Then, it was time to network again!

Ebrahim closed the event with his own learnings from the day, and the important insights he had gained as a partaking member of the event and the Network itself.

LWC’s Women’s Network was set up in in the summer of 2023 with three simple aims; inspire, support and develop. Since its creation, the Network has grown at pace with over 80 members now taking part in its regular virtual sessions.
